How To: Setting Up Miscellaneous Fields for W2 (10-60-01)

Overview

The tutorial describes how to set up the W2 Miscellaneous Fields using the Employee Information selection.

  1. Complete the following fields:

    Enter Employee #
    Enter the Employee Number for which the Miscellaneous W2 fields are being set up.

    Field #5 – Medicare Tips
    The field is a maximum of 99999.99.

    Field #7 – Social Security Tips
    The field is a maximum of 99999.99.

    Please refer to the W2 Instruction Manual for more information.

    Field #8 – Allocated Tips
    This field is used for Employees who receive tips, but report less than 8% of the adjusted Gross Receipts as tips. The field is a maximum of 99999.99.

    Field #10 – Dependent Care Benefit
    The field is a maximum of 99999.99.

    Field #11 – Nonqualified Plans
    Enter the amount of distributions to your employee from a nonqualified deferred compensation plan or a section 457 plan. The field is a maximum of 99999.99.

    **Nq-Section 457
    (Magnetic Media Only)
    Enter the amount of nonqualified plans that are NQ-SECTION 457. Do not include this amount in non-qualified plan amount.

    Field #12d
    Enter the amounts and codes for these four fields, which are a maximum of 99999.99.

    Field # 13 -Statutory Employee?
    Enter “Y” if the Employee is a Statutory Employee; otherwise, enter “N”.

    An employee is someone who performs services and you, as an Employer, can control what is being done. A Statutory Employee is someone who works for you, but is not considered an Employee under the common law.

    Field #13 -Retirement Plan?
    Enter “Y” if the Employee participates in a Retirement Plan. Otherwise, enter “N.”

    Field #13 -Third Party Sick Pay?
    Please refer to the W2 Instruction Manual for more information.

    Field # 14 – Other #1
    Field # 14 – Other #2
    Field # 14 – Other #3
    Enter the amount and label for any additional information to be given to the Employee. Each item listed for Field # 14 should be labeled. The fields are each a maximum of 99999.99.

    The field is a maximum of 4 alphanumeric characters.

  1. The cursor now positions to the ‘Is the Above Correct?’ prompt. Enter “Y” or press the Tab key to accept the entry. The cursor positions to the ‘Enter Employee #’ field for entry of additional employees.
