How To: Adding a New Transaction Code (03-13)
Overview
This tutorial describes how to set up a new transaction code in Transaction Code Maintenance.
Step-by-Step
- Click the ‘Add’ button.
- In the ‘I/O’ drop-down list, select the first character of the transaction code:
- Enter “I” if the code represents an incoming transaction (added to inventory).
- Enter “O” if the code represents an outgoing transaction (removed from inventory).
- In the ‘Code’ field, enter the remaining characters of the transaction code.
For example:
- OMIS (Miscellaneous Outgoing Inventory Adjustment)
- IMIS (Miscellaneous Incoming Inventory Adjustment)
- ITRD (Trade In)
- OSTL (Stolen Goods)
NOTE: In the examples above, the last three characters are the ones you would enter in this field. Remember that an ‘I’ at the beginning of a transaction code (selected in the ‘I/O’ field) signifies an incoming transaction, and an ‘O’ at the beginning of a transaction code signifies an outgoing transaction.
- Enter the description for the code.
- If required, enter the second half (six digits) of the transaction code’s corresponding General Ledger number.
- Transaction codes ending in ‘PRA’, ‘WRK’, ‘WK*’, or ‘XFR’ do not require a G/L number as they do not post to General Ledger. The cursor will not move to this field for those codes.
- The system will add trailing zeros and the first six digits will display along with the G/L description as the code is added to the file.
- The first six digits of the G/L number are entered automatically by the system using the first branch on file. This G/L number is adjusted to the appropriate branch when processing Transfers (03-11) and Receipts and Adjustments (03-10).
- Click ‘Add.’
