Using Territories and Markets
Overview
By default, branches in your company are grouped together based on the region that they are assigned to. When you run a report, you can usually filter the report by region and/or store. However, there might be times when you want to compare stores that are not in the same region.
Markets and territories allow you to create additional branch groupings based on the criteria of your choice. Once the groupings are set up, you can filter certain Sales Analysis reports by them, allowing you to compare stores using almost any classification.
For example, you might want to compare the performance of all of your ‘A’ stores, all of your ‘B’ stores, and all of your ‘C’ stores. Or, you might want to compare stores based on the size of the store (e.g. 5000 sq. ft, 15,000 sq. ft, 25000 sq. ft, etc.). Maybe you want to compare the performance of stores in large geographical areas (e.g. East Coast Stores vs. West Coast Stores) or compare stores that are located in urban areas with stores that are located in rural areas.
As you can see, the ability to create custom branch groupings greatly increases the flexibility of Tyler reports.
Special Notes
- There is no difference in functionality between Territory, Market, District, and Service Market groupings. These terms are defined by your company and should be used according to the needs of your company.
