Introduction: Data Selection/File Build (24-01-03-01)

Overview

This selection is used to create the Warrantech/Centricity files. There are three files in total (two Warranty and one Registration) and the descriptions of each are as follows:

  • Warranty Files (2): These files (WT20P and WT20C) contain all inventory items that were sold with an attached service policy for the specified date range. The inventory items are found in the WT20P file and the corresponding Service Policy Items are contained in the WT20C file. Both are automatically downloaded to your computer as Pipe Delimited files so they can be sent to Warrantech/Centricity.
  • Registration File (1): This file (WT20R) contains all items that were sold without an attached service policy for the entered date range. Note that this file is not downloaded to your computer and should not be sent to Warrantech/Centricity.

The Warranty Files includes Service Policy Transactions for all regions. This includes:

  • Sales where the Service Policy Item and the Warranted Merchandise are sold on the same transaction
  • Sales where a warranty is attached to merchandise in Customer History
  • Policy returns

Special Notes

  • All Service Policy Item Numbers must be set up as described in the Tyler documentation.
  • If a MFG SKU is set up for a Warranty Item Number in Inventory Master (03-01), the MFG SKU is reported to Warrantech/Centricity as the Warranty Item Number.
  • This program can handle both Blanket warranties and One-Item, One-Warranty Service Policies. That is, provided that the warranties are entered according to normal Tyler procedures.
  • Warrantech files end with the extension ‘.dat’ and Centricity files end with the extension ‘.txt’.
