Introduction: RF Transfers (RF-02)
Overview
The Transfers system in Tyler is used to move items between your company’s branches.
Your RF Scanner can be used for three tasks in the Transfers process:
- Picking merchandise from the warehouse of one branch to be transferred to a second branch (replaces recording picked items on paper).
- Shipping picked transfer items at the From/Outbound Branch.
- Receiving transferred items at the To/Inbound Branch.
When are Quantities Affected?
For transfers, the point at which inventory levels are affected depends on the setting for the preference ‘Activate Request for Transfer?’ under Transfer Preferences (03-11-90-01). If it is set to N, inventory levels are affected when the Transfer Entry (03-11-01) is created. If the preference is set to Y, inventory at the From Branch is affected when the Shipping selection (02-03) on your scanner is run. Inventory at the To Branch is affected when the Receiving selection (02-04) is run on your scanner.
GUI Print Preference
When the GUI Print Preference is set to Y in Transfers Preferences (03-11-90-01), the Transfer Picking Sheets are printed using GUI Printing. With this method of printing, the document number prints as a barcode, allowing you to scan the document number with your RF scanner when picking merchandise. This option also allows you to bulk pick items by area (see below).
Picking by Area
Transfer Bulk Picking by Area is an efficient method of picking merchandise and is used when the transfer Outbound Branch is a locator branch. When the Picking Sheet is printed, locator items within each transfer document are sorted by Area, allowing you to pick items in the same area of the warehouse at the same time. Remember that Areas are assigned to locator items through Valid Location Entry (03-38-10).
To print Bulk Picking Sheets, the ‘GUI Print’ preference in Transfers Preferences (03-11-90-01) must be set to ‘Y.’
