Introduction: Order Processing (RF-05)
Overview
RF scanners are used for three Order Processing tasks:
- Picking items from the warehouse for delivery.
- Checking out items to a truck for delivery.
- Checking in items after a delivery (confirming merchandise that was delivered or returning undelivered items to inventory).
The RF Order Processing Process
An RF Scanner can be used to check out and check in merchandise as part of the Order Processing Standard Method of Shipping (Long Method) process. The steps below briefly describe the process.
To avoid confusion, at the end of each summary step, we specify where the action should be performed. If the step must be completed in the Order Processing application in the main system, [MAIN SYSTEM] appears. If the step is completed with the RF Scanner, [RF SCANNER] appears.
- An order is created in POS Entry (02-02) and delivery are scheduled. [MAIN SYSTEM]
- Picking and packing sheets are printed through the Picking/Packing Sheets Print selection (02-08-10). [MAIN SYSTEM]
- Check Out (05-01) is run to verify, in the system, the physically picked orders. Those picked and verified items are then loaded onto a delivery vehicle. [RF SCANNER]
- The Invoice Printing selection (02-08-13) is run.
IMPORTANT: You must print the invoice even if the ‘Invoice Print Mandatory’
preference in Order Preferences (02-08-90) is set to ‘N.’) [MAIN SYSTEM]
- After a delivery vehicle returns, the Check In selection (05-02) is run. This confirms, in the system, the items that were delivered and the items that were not delivered. [RF SCANNER]
