Introduction: Enhanced Return Process (TW, DD)
Overview
There are two return processes in Tyler:
- Standard Return Process
- Enhanced Return Process
Unlike Tyler’s Standard Return Process, the Enhanced Return Process requires that you locate the original transaction that an item was sold on and return the item at its original price.
The Enhanced Return Process is activated by entering a ‘Y’ at the ‘Returns req. Orig.Trans/Line#’ preference (Field 27) of Trans Entry Pre-Prompt (02-18-01).
There are six tutorials that describe how to use the Enhanced Return Process. We recommend viewing them in the following order:
- Introduction
- Returning an Item
- Returning an Item in a Package
- Exchanging an Item
- Applying Price Protection
- Using the Override Feature

Initial Steps
The initial steps of the Enhanced Return Process are the same whether you are returning an item, exchanging an item, applying price protection, or using the override feature. Because of this, we will describe the initial steps in this tutorial and skip them in the other Enhanced Return Process tutorials.
- In the ‘Type of Sale’ field, select TW or DD from the drop-down menu.
- In the ‘Salesperson #1’ field, enter the salesperson processing the return.
- If you are processing a DD transaction, enter a Delivery Date for the return.
- In the ‘BillTo#’ field, enter the customer number. The corresponding customer information then appears.
- If the customer number is not on file, the Customer Maintenance window appears to allow you to set up the new customer.
- To search for the customer number, click the Search button.
- Click the Detail tab.
