How To: Adding Tax Information for a Product Type (02-18-02)
Overview
This tutorial describes how to set up tax exceptions for specific product types.
Step-by-Step
- Select the ‘By Product Type’ radio button and click ‘Refresh.’ The product type listings appear.
- Click the ‘Add’ button.
- In the ‘Prod Type’ field, enter the product type for which tax information is being set up or changed.
- In the ‘Taxable’ field:
- Select ‘Y’ if the product type is taxable.
- Select ‘N’ if the product type is not taxable.
- In the ‘Tax Exceptions’ field:
- Select ‘Y’ to set up tax exceptions for this product type.
- Select ‘N’ if there are no tax exceptions for this product type.
- Click the ‘Add’ button and the product type is added to the list.
If the product type you added has tax exceptions (you selected ‘Y’ for Step 5), move to Step 7 of this tutorial.
If the product type you added does not have tax exceptions (you entered ‘N’ for Step 8), this tutorial is complete.
- Double-click the product type you would like to add tax exceptions to.
- Click the ‘Add Except’ button.
- In the ‘Tax Code’ field, enter the tax code for the exception.
- From the ‘Taxable’ drop-down list:
- Select ‘Y’ if items for this tax code (and product type) are taxable.
- Select ‘N’ if items for this tax code (and product type) are not taxable.
- If the tax code is taxable, enter the Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 information for the tax code as needed.
NOTE: Please refer to the ‘Sales Tax Tables Entry’ documentation for more information on these fields.
- Click ‘Add’ to add the tax exception to the product type.
- Repeat steps 8-12 until all tax codes are added.
- Click the ‘Update’ button to save your changes.
