How To: Changing the Availability of a Serial Number (03-31-02)

Overview

This tutorial describes how to change the availability of a serial number.

  1. In the ‘Item #’ field, enter the item number that you are changing.

  1. In the ‘Serial #’ field, enter the serial number for the item. The serial number information appears.

  1. Click the ‘Status’ button.

  1. If the serial number is committed on a sales transaction, a transfer, or a work order, it will be unavailable and cannot be changed.

    If it is not committed, change the availability by clicking ‘Y’ at the ‘Change Availability’ prompt.

    NOTE: When the serial number is changed from available to unavailable, the current Start of Day date is added to the ‘Out Date’ field. When the serial number is changed from unavailable to available, the date in the ‘Out Date’ field is removed by the system.
    NOTE: Previously committed serial numbers that are returned are available for immediate resale.
