Introduction: B-Flag Serial Number Maint (03-31-98)

Overview

The three selections on this menu are used to turn B-Flag Serial Numbers “on” and “off.”

Selection 1: B-Flag Serial Number Turn On

This selection changes items with a ‘B’ in the ‘Seq#’ field (Field 30) of Inventory Master (03-01) to B-Flag serial numbers.

An item has a ‘B’ in the ‘Seq#’ field if:

  • It was previously a B-Flag item that was turned “off” using Selection 2
  • It was previously an A-Flag item and Selection 3 (‘Load B for A-Flag Serial Numbers) was run.
NOTE: If you want to change items to B-Flag that are currently A-Flag (that do not currently have a ‘B’ in the ‘Seq’ field), run Selection 3 first to place a ‘B’ in the ‘Seq#’ field.

Selection 2: B-Flag Serial Number Turn Off

This selection changes all B-Flag serial numbers to A-Flag serial numbers and puts a ‘B’ in the ‘Seq#’ field of Inventory Master (03-01)’ so the item can easily be changed back to a B-Flag item at a later time.

Selection 3: Load B for A-Flag Serial Numbers

This selection places a ‘B’ in the ‘Seq #’ field (Field 30) of Inventory Master (03-01) for all A-Flag serial number items. This allows A-Flag items to be changed to B-Flag serial number items when Selection 1 is run.

  • Inventory Request For Transfer File
  • Order Processing Detail File
  • Purchase Order Detail File

The following files are affected by Serial Number Turn Off (Selection 2):

  • Inventory Master File: Inventory Request For Transfer File
  • Order Processing Detail File
  • Purchase Order Detail File.
